Ian Lawton was born in the UK in 1959 and in his mid-thirties became a writer-researcher specializing in ancient history, esoterica and spiritual philosophy.
In 2004 he introduced the idea of Rational Spirituality in "The Book of the Soul", which has been hailed as "masterly and scholarly" and "a book that intellectuals need not be ashamed of having on their shelves".
